Interview with Ayiesha Woods, 30 years, christian musician, 2 albums released: „Introducing Ayiesha Woods“ (2006) and „Love like this“ (2008)

Tracy: How did you know God was calling you to pursue a career in music?
Ayiesha: I knew that God was calling me to pursue a career in music when I would sing my songs at various church events and was asked where could my music be purchased.

Tell us a little about your new album Love Like This?
My new album „Love Like This“ is a pop oriented Ayiesha Woods project that simply explores the many aspects of God’s love. The love that we have one for another and topics surrounding that as, as well as the love we have for the Father and topics surrounding that relationship.

What’s the biggest obstacle in your life God’s helped you overcome?
The biggest obstacle in my life that God has helped me to overcome has been the fear of failure. When God truly set me free from that fear, I pursued the call full fledge and He has been meeting me at the point of my need ever since then. Showing Himself MIGHTY in every situation in my life.

Are there any steps you take to stay on track spiritually?
For me, an absolute necessity in order for me to stay on track spiritually is the absorption of the word of God. I recognize when I haven’t spent enough time in God’s word and personal time in prayer and devotion because it is reflected in every other thing that I do. His word brings substance to my life and I need it to succeed at ANYTHING at all. Even breathing.

What’s the coolest prayer God’s ever answered for you?
LOL. It came one day in my early 20’s when I was seeking Him about some things and I sat on my bed and asked God „Lord, what do you require of me?“ and I opened my Bible to a page in Micah 6 that explicitly states: „…. This is what the Lord requires of you; to walk humbly, love justice and love mercy.“ I was amazed because just as soon as I asked and opened my word, there it was right in my face, summing it all up for me. That was COOOOOOL!

Do you have any advice for someone trying to reach their friends for Christ?
For anyone trying to reach their friends for Christ, I would simply advise you to LIVE THE LIFE. You friends may not ever go to church; they may not ever have looked in a Bible. You may be the only Jesus they are graced to experience. So give them Jesus and He’ll draw them unto Himself by the light you shine and the life you live.

If you could say one thing to this generation what would you say?
Jesus is REAL, He LOVES YOU and He’s Coming soon. That was three. Sorry.
What is your favorite Bible verse and why?
Matthew 6:25-34 is one of my favorite passages of scripture because it reminds me of God’s great sovereignty and my frailty. However, it assures me His plan for my life and keeps things in the proper perspective for me.

What’s the most memorable place you have ever played?
One of the most memorable places I’ve played was just outside of Oslo, Norway in a little church off the highway near the beautiful countryside. The people were so receptive and open and I felt as though we were truly connecting with them and were able to convey the love of Jesus to where they would be open to receive Him.

Bei meinem letzten Einsatz habe ich den Kindern verschiedene Brücken gezeigt – tolle Bauwerke – echt eine geniale Leistung von intelligenten Menschen
At my last ministry I showed the children different bridges – amazing buildings – really an ingenious effort from intelligent people.

Das ist z.B. die Forth Eisenbahnbrücke in Schottland. Sie führt über den Fluss Firth und ist 2,5 km lang! 54 000 Tonnen Stahl und 6,5 Millionen Nieten!
That’s the Fort Rail bridge in Scotland. It goes across the river Firth and is 2,5 km long.

Doch eine Brücke, die kein Mensch bauen kann,
die über einen unüberwindbaren Graben führt
und die wichtigste Brücke aller Zeiten ist,
das ist die Brücke, die Gott zwischen sich und den Menschen machte.
Sie hat einen wunderbaren Namen: Jesus Christus

that’s the bridge god built between him and men.
It’s got a wunderful name: Jesus Christ

Ich erzählte auch den Kindern, wie es für mich möglich wurde, über diese Brücke zu gehen.
I also told the children how it was possible for me to cross this bridge.

Jesus ist der einzige Weg zu Gott. Jesus is the one and only way to God.

Danach hatten wir noch einen kleinen Brückenbauwettbewerb mit Papier, Tixo und Büroklammern. Es war gar nicht so leicht für die Jury, bei den Kunstwerken, die die Kinder herstellten.
After that we had a bridge building competition with paper. It was not easy for the jury.
Wir hatten eine echt gute Zeit zusammen. We really hat a good time together.

Mitte September hatte ich zwei Wochen Urlaub. Mit Amélie gemeinsam verbrachte ich eine Woche mit Wandern, guten Gesprächen u.a. – natürlich auch viel über die Arbeit – sie arbeitet bei der KEB in Frankreich. Das war sehr bereichernd, ermutigend und hilfreich. Es ist schön, auch über die Landes-Grenze hinaus Erfahrungen auszutauschen. Manchmal hatten wir uns über ganz ähnliche Fragen Gedanken gemacht.

That was quite enriching, encouraging and helpful. It is nice to share about experiences across the border. Sometimes we had quite the same questions.

Ganz oben wurden wir leider nicht mit einer Aussicht belohnt – aber dafür etwa 200 m weiter unten!
Unfortunately we had no sight on top – but we had a wonderful view 200 m before the peak.

Dass unser Erlöser lebt konnten wir auch ganz deutlich spüren. Er hat geholfen, die richtigen Entscheidungen zu treffen und eine bewahrte und gesegnete Zeit geschenkt.

Teenager aus der Schweiz (in einer Woche kamen so viele, dass ich das Programm auf schweizer deutsch hätte halten können wenn ich könnte , aus dem äußersten Norden von Deutschland, aus dem Stuttgarter Raum, aus Unter- und Mittelfranken, aus Oberösterreich, Graz, Wien…. kamen zum Programm im Teen-Zelt!

Vom 29.08. bis 05.09.2009 in der Schwaigmühle/Großgmain in der Nähe von Salzburg. 45 Teenager und Jugendliche von überall her (bis über die deutsche Grenze; Leute aus der Wiener, Kirchdorfer, Salzburger und Eisenstädter Umgebung).

Leidenschaftlich verteidigt der Mathematiker, Physiker und Philosoph Pascal (1623 – 1662) Macht und Würde der menschlichen Vernunft. In allen Bereichen der Lebens- und Weltdeutung wendet er sie an und lässt sie sich entfalten. Dabei gelangt er an eine Grenze: Wir sind unfähig zu erkennen, was Gott ist! Die Grenze führt an einen Abgrund, vor dem bis dahin die meisten zurückschreckten: Wir sind sogar unfähig zu erkennen, ob Gott ist!

Die schließende Vernunft kann von da an keine Gewissheit mehr bieten. Führt die Spekulation vielleicht weiter, wenn sie alternative Möglichkeiten durchspielt? Was kann man gewinnen, und was steht auf dem Spiel, wenn man auf die Existenz oder die Nicht-Existenz Gottes setzt?

A: Ob es Gott gibt oder nicht, kann man nicht sicher entscheiden. Stimmst du dem zu?

B: Ich stimme zu.

A: Also können wir die Frage auf sich beruhen lassen.

B: Nein, ich glaube trotzdem an Gott.

A: Aber kannst du an etwas glauben, was du nicht beweisen kannst? Ich glaube nämlich, dass es keinen Gott gibt.

B: Aber wie kannst du das glauben, wenn du es auch nicht beweisen kannst?

A: So kommen wir nicht weiter. Ich habe ja gleich gesagt, dass man die Frage nicht entscheiden kann.

B: Ich bin einverstanden. Deshalb schlage ich dir eine anderes Verfahren vor: Wir wollen wetten.

A: Wieso wetten?

B: Nun, ein Spiel – aber ein Spiel mit Folgen, ein Spiel am Abgrund! – Ich wette, dass es einen Gott gibt.

A: Gut, ich wette also, dass es keinen Gott gibt! Und was bekomme ich, wenn ich gewinne?

B: Nichts!

A: Nichts?

B: Ja, wenn du nämlich gewinnst hast du zwar Recht: Es gibt dann keinen Gott. Aber im Grunde hast du verloren! Und ich habe auch verloren. Wenn es keinen Gott gibt, ist unser Leben sinnlos und leer.

A: Und wenn du gewinnst?

B: Nun, dann habe ich doppelten Gewinn: Ich habe recht behalten: es gibt einen Gott! Damit gibt es zugleich Glück und Zukunft für den Menschen – auch für mich. Für dich aber auch. Du hast also mit mir gewonnen.

A: Das sehe ich ein. Aber wir sind immer noch nicht weitergekommen. Ob es Gott wirklich gibt, ist genauso ungewiss wie vorher.

B: Ja und nein. Es ist doch immerhin klar geworden dass du dich entscheiden musst und dass diese Entscheidung Folgen hat.

A: Und du meinst, deshalb schon sollte ich mich für den Glauben an Gott entscheiden?

B: Ja, sicher. Bedenke doch: Du musst zwischen zwei Antworten wählen, die sich ausschließen, die aber mit gleicher Wahrscheinlichkeit richtig sind. Eine Antwort hat gute Folgen, die andere schreckliche. Wie kannst du da noch zögern?

A: Aber wenn ich mich dabei irre?

B: dann hast du nichts verloren. Du hast eine Illusion geglaubt, gewiss. Aber im anderen Fall hättest du das Nichts gewählt, das kann dich auch nicht glücklich machen.

A: Du meinst also, ich muss eigentlich an Gott glauben.

B: Nein, du musst nicht. Aber es ist deine einzige Chance.
