Seit ein paar Wochen beschäftigt mich das Leben Martin Luthers. Bisher dachte ich wohl insgeheim: Luther ist halt ein Heiliger der evangelischen Kirche.
Ich bin eines Besseren belehrt worden und staune, was Gott durch Luther in der Welt bewirkt hat.
Die Zeit war reif, auch andere Männer in Europa erkannten im 15./16. Jh die Wahrheit aus Gottes Wort: nämlich, dass allein der Glaube an die Erlösung durch Jesus Christus von den Sünden rettet und nicht gute Werke, Ablassbriefe usw. Diese Männer waren auch mutig genug, diese Wahrheiten öffentlich zu verkündigen gegen die Meinung der Kirche. Jan Huss wurde dafür verbrannt, John Wycliff wurde noch nach seinem Tod als Ketzer erklärt, seine Gebeine wurden wieder ausgegraben und verbrannt! Die Kirche hätte sonst etwas ändern müssen und damit stand ihr Status auf dem Spiel.
Und jetzt kommt da ein kleiner Mönch daher – wie kann er es wagen, den Papst zu kritisieren!
Und er tut es – bereit, für die Wahrheit der Bibel sein Leben zu riskieren.
Luther übersetzt schließlich die gesamte Bibel in die damalige deutsche Sprache und legt nicht nur den Grundstein für eine einheitliche Sprache, sondern motiviert dadurch auch, dass die Bibel in viele Sprachen der Welt übersetzt wurde.
Gott wollte, dass alle Menschen selbst in der Bibel lesen können und nicht länger die Lügen der Kirche glauben müssen. Er wollte, dass die Menschen Seine Gande kennen lernen und nicht länger in Angst und Schrecken vor Ihm leben.
Die “Reformation” lat. Wiederherstellung; Erneuerung “back to the roots” – zurück zur Schrift – für viele bedeutete das eine große Befreiung, doch der Papst und seine Leute wollten ihre Meinung nicht ändern. Bauernkrieg, Gegenreformation. Schließlich muss die Kirche doch eine zweite Kirche neben sich akzeptieren. Leider hat die Katholische Kirche ihre Grundsätze nie wirklich geändert. Immernoch gilt der Papst als unfehlbar, Heilige werden verehrt und Erlass der Strafe für Sünden kann immer noch “verdient” werden.
Dabei hat Jesus Christus doch längst die Strafe bezahlt! “Die Strafe liegt auf Ihm, damit wir Frieden hätten!” Jesaja 53,5
Jesus Christus hat doch am Kreuz für uns gebüßt! Gott sagt, wer an Jesus glaubt, dem wird er die Sünde vergeben! “So wir unsere Sünde bekennen, ist ER TREU UND GERECHT, dass ER UNS VERGIBT…” 1. Joh 1,9 Die Strafe ist schon bezahlt! Wer glaubt, selbst noch einmal dafür 10 Rosenkränze und 5 Vater Unser beten zu müssen, akzeptiert nicht das Opfer, das Jesus längst gebracht hat! Gott selbst gibt Seinen Sohn für ALLE Sünden ALLER Menschen zu JEDER Zeit. Es ist nicht notwendig, noch mehr zu tun und es bringt gar nichts! Was für eine Befreiung!! Natürlich schaut Gott auf unser Herz, ob wir es ernst meinen und wirklich bereuen. Das ist klar. Dennoch gilt: ER hat längst alles getan und wir können nichts dazu tun oder davon weg nehmen.
Since a few weeks I am studying the life of Martin Luther. Somehow I must have thought: He is just a saint of the protestant church. But now I know better and I am thrilled what God did through him. It influenced the whole world up until now. During the 15th/16th century God raised several people in different European countrys who understood the truth of God’s word. They found out that alone faith in the redemption of Jesus Christ saves, not good deeds, not indulgence… They were also brave enough to tell it to others despite it was against what the church taught. Jan Huss was burnt because of that and John Wycliff was declared as an heretic after his death and they even excavated his bones and burnt them! The church didn’t want to change anything and loose their power.
And now there is a little monk – how can he dare to criticize the pope.
He does. Ready to risk his life for the truth of the bible!
He translates the whole bible into the former German language. This is not only the basis for a unique German language but also the turningpoint in translating the bible in many different languages!
God wanted the people to read the bible themselves, they shouldn’t believe the lies of the church any longer!
He wanted the people to know His Grace so that they don’t live any longer scared and frightened before Him.
“Reformation” lat. recreation and renovation “back to the roots” – the Word of God – for many people it means relief but the pope and his people didn’t want to give up on their opinion. Farmer’s war, counter-reformation. In the end the catholic church has to accept another church besides them.
Unfortunately the catholic church never changed its principles. Still the pope is infallible, saints are worshipped and you can “earn” release from punishment for sin.
BUT Jesus already paid the punishment! He died on the cross for our sins: “the punishment that brought us peace was upon him!” Isaja 53:5
God says, He who believes in Jesus, will be forgiven! “If we confess our sins, HE IS FAITHFUL and JUST and WILL FORGIVE US our sins” 1John 1:9
The price is paid! He who thinks he can pay for the punishment py praying 10 rosarys and 5 Lord’s prayers doesn’t accept the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. God Himself gives His one and only son for ALL sins of ALL people at ALL times! It is not necessarry to do anything for it and it helps nothing to it.
What a relief!! Of course God is looking to the inside man if we are regretting and honest. This is clear. But this is also true: HE already DID everything and we cannot contribute anything or take away from it.
